Eleni (Lena) Belsi
CEO Geocycle Hellas, member of HERACLES Group
Lena Belsi is the Head of the Geocycle activity of HERACLES Group since the beginning of 2012. She holds a BA in Economics from Smith College, USA. She started her career in the USA in the Telecommunications Sector. Upon her return to Greece in 1990 she worked in different companies such as INTRASOFΤ, INTRACOM and MYTILINAIOS, undertaking management positions mainly in the areas of Project Management and Procurement. She was hired by HERACLES Group in 2007 as Procurement Manager, and in the last 14 years she has also held positions such as Energy Manager, Solid Fuels Manager as well as Manager of Alternative Fuels and Alternative Raw Materials. Since February 2019 she is the CEO of Geocycle Hellas S.A., the newly formed subsidiary of HERACLES Group in the area of wastes management, while since June 2022 she holds the position of the President of the Federation of Recycling and Energy Recovery Industries and Enterprises (SEPAN).

Objectives
SEPAN serves the following objectives:
- 1
The promotion of and contribution to advancing recycling, energy recovery or other forms of waste management, such as the production of by-products and secondary raw materials in the context of the Circular Economy in Greece so as the policymakers and the public recognize their invaluable importance.
- 2
The development and promotion of research and technology in collaboration with domestic and foreign universities and all kinds of educational and research institutes aiming at a dynamic sustainable growth based on Circular Economy’s best practices in industrial production and services.

The adoption and implementation of the relevant European Union Directives and Regulations in the framework of the EU Circular Economy Action Plan and the European Commission’s Reflection Paper “Towards a Sustainable Europe by 2030”.

The submission of proposals to contribute to establishing an appropriate regulatory framework for enhancing productive activity, ensuring environmental compliance, equal treatment and healthy competition in recycling and energy recovery industries as well as the adoption of best practices of Circular Economy.
- 5The cooperation with the State, public and private bodies and organizations to promote solutions that contribute to the optimal management and saving of natural resources and the development of recycling and energy recovery industries, within the framework of the Circular Economy, thus contributing to the sustainable growth of the Greek economy.
